HANDLING NEGATIVE EMOTIONS
IN HCI

5. Competition Results
Unable to achieve results in competitions expected by you and your school
Possible CAUSES
-
Lack of skills in that area
-
No passion towards CCA, lack of perseverance during training - you are unwilling to dedicate time and effort towards your CCA.
-
Poor time management, constantly distracted to do other stuff - you are unable to have proper control over the time you spend on certain activities.
As a RESULT
> Unwilling to go for training/giving your best to improve yourself
> Because of poor time management, you do not have adequate time to prepare yourself for the competitions.
the Negative Emotion
Frustrated and disappointed when you are unable to meet the expectations of yourself and the school in competitions.
Disappointed when you are unable to continue the winning streak of your CCA.
What you CAN DO
1) Develop an interest for your CCA.
Try to develop a liking for your CCA as this will help you to become more eager for practice.
You will then spend more time in order to improve yourself in that area.
2) Be willing to give your best in your CCA.
The attitude you possess during CCA is very important.
With a good attitude towards CCA, you will not be reluctant to dedicate your time and energy for CCA practice.
3) Choose the right CCA (a CCA that you have interest in).
It is not advisable to involve yourself in a CCA that you dread.
After all, participating in a CCA that you like will definitely make your life better.
4) Manage your time well and sort your priorities well.
Always exercise conscious control over the time spent on your activities.
Leave an allocated time slot for you to practise your skills in your CCA.
5) Know that results are not everything.
Results are just figures which do not mean any much.
What matters more is what you have learnt and experienced in your CCA.competitions.
You can always write reflections on your experience in your CCA competition.
Writing will lift up your mood.
