Unable to meet criteria for promotion to Sec 4 / for application to special programmes in Sec 3 (e.g. SMTP, BSP etc.) / to apply for leadership positions / to apply for camps and immersion programmes

Possible CAUSES

  1. Poor time management - you are unable to exercise conscious control over the amount of time spent on certain activities such as homework, gaming, playing sports etc.

  2. There is a lack of focus in studies and you are constantly distracted by other commitments such as CCA.

  3. You lack interest in certain subjects.

As a RESULT

> Fail to prioritise which commitment is more important

> You do not have enough time to revise completely for the tests and exams, thus you are unprepared for tests and examinations

> You are unable to complete revision for all the subjects before the tests/exams.

the Negative Emotion

Disappointed when your MSG fails to meet the criteria for application to special programmes in Sec 3 / for promotion to Sec 4 / to apply for leadership positions / to apply for camps and immersion programmes

What you CAN DO

1) Learn to sort out your priorities and manage your time well.

Exercise proper control over the time you commit to certain activities.

It is important to plan out your time so that you are able to complete what is needed before the next day.

Prioritise your tasks correctly, so that you do not submit any work late.

2) Spend your school holidays to revise.

You can either revise what you have learnt in the previous term or get prepared for the next term.

You can ask your friends out to do your homework together as this is an effective way of revision. Your friends will be there to help you.

You will be prepared for your tests and examinations.

3) Pay attention, take note of the important ideas in class.

Ask questions to clarify when in doubt.

When you are revising, you will have a clearer understanding of the topic.

4) Work harder on your leadership skills and practise them in your daily life.

Do not be too upset if you do not get the leadership position.

Everyone is a leader in their own life even if you do not have a leadership position.

Try to engage in CMC activities or simply take the leader's role while doing projects or assignments

5) Seek advice from your peers and teachers.

Ask them to give you tips on how to excel in academics and other areas as well.

They will provide suggestions on how you can help improve your grades.

6) Take this missed opportunity as a lesson and practise acceptance.

Be positive and make full use of the alternative pathway that you are on.

Give your best in this path. It may be more suitable for you.

Learn from your mistakes and improve yourself.
