HANDLING NEGATIVE EMOTIONS
IN HCI

Constantly reprimanded by teachers because they are unhappy with your work
Possible CAUSES
-
Poor time management - you are unable to plan and control your time spent over on certain activities and are constantly distracted by other commitments
-
Have little or no interest in completing homework
-
There is a lack of focus when doing homework
As a RESULT
> Give very little effort in doing homework
> Do the homework for the sake of doing.
> Teachers upset with the slipshod work
the Negative Emotion
Frustrated when teachers constantly reprimand you
Disappointed when you receive a “unsatisfactory” for ‘attitude’ and ‘meeting deadlines’/negative comments in your report slip.
What you CAN DO
1) Manage your time well and learn to prioritize.
It is important to have conscious control over the time you spend on certain activities.
Sort out your priorities right. If you have a piece of homeowrk that is due tomorrow, do it first.
This is to ensure that you have adequate time to produce quality work.
2) Develop an interest in the subject.
Give your best when doing your work.
With a liking for the subject, you are more willing to put in more effort in your work.
You are then able to produce quality work.
3) Be focused on improving your work.
Seek help from your peers or teachers if you need clarification of certain doubts, or help on homework.
They will be able to give you advice and help you to do your homework.
4) Do not dwell on the thought that you are unable to submit quality work.
Instead, see it as a motivation to give your best when doing work.
In this way, you are able to overcome your negative emotions, and also produce better quality work.
